IsoPopIsoPop

I attended Rich Porter's IsoPop class tonight. I learned some great new ways of thinking about the hoop in space, rather than the hoop in connection to my body. We drilled several techniques for isolations and what Rich calls "Pops".  I haven't hooped in a bit, and I felt really great by the end of the class. I saw marked progress in my technique of the class moves, which Rich had taught me before, but which I had yet to have  a good grasp on (pun intended, lol).

Prior to Rich's class, which was sold out (amazing since it was from 9-10:30), I trekked over to Oakland to the Numi Tea Garden for the first time. My hoop student Mani Niall was hosting a launch party for his newest cookbook Sweet.  He had invited me to come do a lil' performance, and so in honor of his accomplishment, I went and gave a little show. It was fun!  There were a ton of delicious organic, fair-trade, hand-made sweets (from Mani's kitchen), which weren't so great for me, as I've been on a green smoothie and juice cleanse for the past week. I broke down and had a mini chocolate cake with dulce de leche caramel on top.  It was a slippery slope from there!  I ended up helping Mani out by taking a huge box of treats with me to Rich's class, where, fortunately I was able to give most of them away. Rich ended up taking the box off my hands to pass the remaining treats out to homeless people.  Sweet.

Here's a testimonial I just received about this past weekend's teacher training:

"I wholeheartedly recommend the Hero
Hoops Level 1 Teacher Training to anyone with an interest in teaching
hoopdance, or a simply a desire to improve their personal practice.
The entire weekend was filled to the brim with wonderful information.
Miss Rosie is an amazing teacher and coach; she literally transformed
each and every one of our lives in only a matter of days with her
knowledge of hoopdance and sparkling enthusiasm.  In addition to the
new skills I gained as a hoopdance teacher, I also learned more about
the business aspects of teaching fitness classes than I did in a year
long yoga teacher training course.  Miss Rosie's attention to detail,
compassionate teaching style and vast knowledge and love of hoopdance
make her a spectacular teacher trainer.  Completing the Hero Hoops
Level 1 Teacher Training was one of the best decisions I have ever
made."   -Laura D.

A very cool reflection. Thank you Laura!
